Whereas Angkor Wat was the mausoleum of The King, Angkor Thom was the residential area with worship temples etc and was all part of the Angkor complex. At it’s peak in the 1100’s the population was about 1 million (as compared to London that hassled about 300,000).
The state of all the relief Panels was amazing and showed battle scenes, day to day life scenes and religious scenes. We got here just after 7 AM and we’re glad to be out soon after 9:30 AM as the crowds are descending on the place. Enjoy the pictures.
