February 26, 2016 – In Papeete and the island of Tahiti (Pronounces pa.pe-ete) is a truly amazing place. Here are pictures of the visit. Unfortunately it rained heavily most of the day, so there were fewer pictures that might have been given all the colour.

As we docked, this was the first glimpse of the island of Tahiti.

The Dock Area where there were tourist shops and at 6 PM food trucks opened for business in the Parking lot, with food from all over the world. Amazing temporary restaurant that occurs daily

Diana by a Tiki in the town – Yes Cellular service is provided by Vodaphone!

A nice Yellow church in he center of town.

The Marae or ancient temple for ceremonies including human sacrifice – we did not have to go through that ritual!!!

The Water Gardens, with a lot of water falling from the sky!!!

Just above Diana’s umbrella you can see Breadfruit growing – a staple of the local diet, which must be cooked as raw, it is harmful to humans.

The Museum of Tahiti and its islands, with the guide who is also like a local priest and performed a welcome ceremony in Tahitian.

Coral that is all around here.

Stone Tikis inside the Museum

Roger by the Tiki at the entrance of the Museum

The fabulous market, both fruit and vegetables as well as restaurants and artisans selling their wares.
