Monday 26th August, 2019 – Ebbsfleet to Paris to Loire Valley.
We were up early and took the Taxi at 7 AM a short distance to the Ebbsfleet International Train Station to Board the 8:40 AM train to Paris. By noon we were at the Gare du Nord in Paris. We picked up the car and drove to Assay (55 Km south west of Tours) to the Chateau de Grasay, which was to be our home for the week. The Cliffords had already arrived. So started the week adventure for the 11 of us.
The Chateau (Anne discovers that the difference between a Chateau and a large “Maison” is that the Chateau had some sort of Royal connection (owned by, lived in, visited for a period etc.) has 8 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, living, family, dining and eat in kitchen rooms plus two outdoor eating areas. Additionally it has a games room, various other outer buildings, swimming pool and tennis court. Out in the countryside amid corn and sunflower fields. A fabulous setting and great weather. The courtyard with central fountain and roses is tastefully lit at night to expose the grandeur of the place.
