2020-01-16 Epcot

Thursday January 16, 2020 – Epcot was the plan for the day after an IHOP breakfast. I had never been and had the impression that it was various country pavilions each promoting through some kind of film or other experience, how great that country was and inducing people to visit. It seems today to be more of a place where food and products of each country are sold. That being said, various pavilions were starting to exhibit movies on the following day and only staff were permitted to enter today.

On the positive side, the majority of the exhibits and rides were free of queues. We would just walk in and get straight onto the boat, train or whatever the transportation was. Frozen in th Norway pavilion (which was terrific) was the only 30 minute delay we experienced.

Certainly the Mexican restaurant – Hacienda San Angel was a great stop although I had booked there as opposed to across the walk in San Angel Inn which is inside the (mock up of Kuk’ulkan) pyramid. They are owned by the same company but the Hacienda is on the lake. The country pavilions were architecturally very well constructed and reflect their respective countries. The fast pass, seems a good way to skip the queues, but today, there were none so that was not needed. The space ship training ride can be a bit claustrophobic as 4 people are strapped into an enclosed car and the controls are brought right up close so there is little space, but very interesting. Go on the green line for a tamer experience as opposed to the orange line which shakes you around a lot more!

The water (aquarium) and land (greenhouses) were well worth the ride and fascinating.

All in all a fun experience and thankfully it was not too warm and there were very few people.
