Saturday January 25, 2020 – At Sea
After a leisurely breakfast we went to three lectures – The first on Brazil today by Anthony Wynne Pereira and the fact that it is the 5th or 6th largest country in the world both in area as well as population (over 200MM).
The second was an interview with Steve Elkins and his work in discovering the “Lost City” – Ciudad Blanca – archaeological site in the Honduran Jungle using first a LIDAR fly over and then trekking through the jungle. Artifacts have been dated to over 4,000 years and many habitations structures have been found.
The third lecture by the amusing UK speaker Tony White who was the former United Nations Drug Control Chief, was on the origins and current situation of Cocaine in the world.
A nice pub lunch followed. A relaxing afternoon followed by a formal dinner, the presentation of the Haggis ceremony and recital of Bobby Burns poems added to the festive nature of the evening. The show was the Cunard singers and dancers – good dancers, very mediocre singers followed by the spectacular piano brothers reprise.
