Friday, February 28, 2020 – At sea on route to San Antonio (Port for Santiago, Chile)
The first talk was fascinating and yet a historical reality. It was all about the group of rugby playing youths lost it’s way on a Charterd air trip for an international rugby match when it crashed in the Andes, between Chile and Argentina. Some died immediately while others remained alive but slowly one by one died off. Food became scarce and survival of the remainder was in jeopardy, when what was a taboo in society became the only way to survive. Realizing after a long while that search efforts were probably at an end, they were able to get a receive only radio working at times. So two of the young men walked over the mountains in search of help. Eventually, the remaining live ones were rescued 73 days after the crash.
Lord King of Lothbury – Governor of the Bank of England gave his final talk about the world and UK economy and took questions from the audience.
In the afternoon we attended a concert in the Queen’s Room of a group of passengers, who were choir people at home, who gave a really great singing concert they had been rehearsing.
The evening show was half the ventriloquist / Michael Minor and 1/2 the energetic piano player John Bressler.
