Thursday March 12, 2020 – At Sea en route to Aruba. Scheduled – Cartagena, Colombia
After transiting the Panama Canal yesterday, the plan, as is often the case, to stop in Cartagena, Colombia. A good stopping place also for ships entering the Canal from the Atlantic side. However, last night during dinner, the Captain announced that due to the CoViD-19 (Corona Virus December 2019) scare / pandemic, we would not be permitted to stop in Cartagena. New arrangements would be announced in the morning. While we were looking forward to Cartagena, these things happen and we were happy to have a day at sea and as the day wore on, the knowledge that we would be in Aruba tomorrow as opposed to the day at sea between Colombia and Curaçao. A pleasant surprise as Aruba is always a pleasant place.
The new daily schedule consisted of two lectures. One by the adventurer –
And the other by Tristan Elmhurst, the forensic scientist. We attended both and were enjoyable. Lunch in the pub and a PM “Chilling out” was the order of the day.
