Friday May 10, 2024 – In Southampton, UK
We took our time getting off the ship so as not to get caught up with virtually all the passengers getting off the ship after the maiden voyage, which was very successful, Once outside, we looked for the shuttle bus to take us into town, but finding none, we walked into town found where the shuttle can be caught to return – on the street between IKEA and the WestQuay Shopping Center. We wandered through the parking lot and shopping center and found a large Gastro-pub, which we had been to before, on the High Street called The Standing Order. Next time we will try another one we were recommended – The Red Lion or even the White Star. After a nice lunch and some Guinness, we returned to the shopping center and purchased a few odds and ends we needed, then walked back to the ship covering in total for the day some 19,880 steps or 13.52 Kilometers. Upon our return we headed straight to the cafeteria for drinks of water and tea. It was a glorious sunny warm day, which we greatly enjoyed. After dinner we went to the show, passing by to try and chat with Philip (of Faberge Egg fame) that we got to know well last year, but he was busy with customers. The show was 4 soprano women in Red long dresses – The Pop Opera Royalty (as they refer to themselves) called IDA. Very good voices and I believe we have seen before. All in all another nice day with lots of walking.
