2024-06-06 – At Sea between Cobh (Cork) and Southampton- Day 035

Thursday June 06, 2024 -At Sea between Cobh, Ireland and Liverpool, England

A nice final day at sea. The captain conducted a very respectful memorial service to commemorate those lost on the D-Day Invasion of WW2 that took place 80 years ago today. Next was Dr. Chris Martin who spoke of cases that he has worked with where medical negligence and the Law / Compensation intersected and the results. As he said, this is not a “get rich quick” scheme, but rather finding a way to compensate a victim with sufficient funds to return the situation to the “Status Quo”. We missed the next talk on the history of Cunard as had planned on our last day of this segment, to enjoy lunch at Sir Samuel’s – the steakhouse. After the lunch and wine, Roger went to the lecture on the Ghosts of the Tower of London by the Warden – Keith Hanson. Anne went to the gym and Patsy & David went to the room to pack. That evening we went to the show, which was a combo of the comedian – John Martin and the two lady violinists – Elektra. In order to fully enjoy the day, we then went to the performance of the Bright Light’s Society – Fizz. They currently do two “audience participation” theatre shows, the other being Noir. This was about two couples that try to get the courage to get together and all with the underlying Champagne. A fun show, but a bit disjointed. Noir tells more of a story and we feel is the better show. It was interesting to see that the chap I got to know that did the lighting in the theatre of the Queen Mary II is now in charge of the light and sound of this “Bright Lights” theatre venue. He invited me to visit the booth, so had a great visit before the show to the technical booth. All state of the art and outstanding. We enjoyed and took part in the show, then to the Casino, where Patsy played Roulette and walked out with a bundle of winnings. So a really terrific day at sea, albeit the last day of their voyage.

Anne and Patsy on the final day.
