2024-06-08 – At Sea on route to Vigo, Spain- Day 037

Saturday June 08, 2024 – At Sea on route to Vigo, Spain

A lazy day at sea. After all the excitement of the past few days, we took it easy as there were only 2 lectures – one a port presentation and the other Philip Birkenstein on Faberge which we have heard various times, so we caught up on laundry, writing, paying bills etc.

The Captain’s noon day announcement indicated that we have travelled 302 knots since leaving Southampton at an average speed of 18.8 knots, leaving 410 knots to reach Vigo, Spain.

The exciting part of the day was dinner at Ají Wa Japanese Restaurant. Katia was in fine form. She gave us some seasonal Saki, which was delicious – Philip Harper, the only non-Japanese master Sake Maker was again, in my opinion the best of the three seasonal ones I tried. However, it was great to see her at another table where a couple was insistent that no Sake, we already bought wine. Katia not to be deterred, educated them on Sake and after a while both ended up with the 180 ml overfilled Cunard Sake and were thrilled with her. Amazing sales. Even the show was one we had seen twice before on this voyage – Brief Encounter, which is very good, we skipped.
