Saturday June 22, 2024 – The final day on Queen Anne – At Sea on Route to Southampton, UK
The last day at sea is always one of sadness in one way as it is the last day of a particular voyage and also a day when panic sets in, wondering if the odd time purchased here and there will fit into the suitcases or whether more suitcases are needed. At sea, purchasing suitcases is limited to the floppy bags in the shop. fortunately Anne, being the tremendously well organized person that she is, had already started the process and made very accurate calculations on the needs and thus the suitcase space available. The day, however was mostly taken up with packing and doing the final bits one needs to accomplish. In this particular case, we are fortunate that we still have seven more sea days as we will be transferring tomorrow in Southampton to the Queen Mary II to travel back to New York.
Anne did manage to go to the gym and do some exercise and I attended the lecture on the origin of life by the Marine Biologist – Philip Price. The second lecture was an interview with Midge Ure, who we had seen interviewed a couple of weeks ago on board the Queen Anne, so we skipped that one.
In the evening we managed to get a reservation at Ají Wa for our final experience in that restaurant. Last night we gave all the staff an extra tip for all the good service they have provided, which we think they appreciate. Tonight we will give the Ají Wa / Sir Samuel staff their extra tip and in the morning, before our departure, we’ll give our appreciation to the Cabin Steward.

We finalized the packing, enjoyed a really good dinner at the Ají Wa with Katia and the staff being their usual brilliant selves. We got to the theatre just in time to see the new show – Imagination. It is a very technical (particularly lights) show and some 3 minutes into the show, it was stopped “for technical reasons”. House lights came on and after about 5 minutes the pre-show “no recording” message started and the opening song started again from the beginning. The show was amazing -particularly the subway / underground scene. However, the show had to be stopped again for 5 minutes, then continued from that point on. It was really excellent. We thought we might play Blackjack with our chips from last night, but decided to cash in. Next to the purser’s office to hand in a letter to the Captain. We like, on longer trips, to write a letter to the captain indicating what we liked and what suggestions we have for improvement. In summary, a really good trip on the maiden voyages of Queen Anne.
