2024-06-29 – New York, NY, USA- Day 058

Saturday June 29, 2024 – Arrival in New York, End of Trip

We entered New York Harbour after the rapid (6 day Vs the usual 7 day) trip across the Atlantic Ocean. However, due to weather across the Atlantic, and the tides having to be right to get under the Verrazano Bridge, we arrived 4 hours later than planned. It is always a sad day being the final day aboard and the end of a spectacular holiday. However, All good things must come to an end. The spectacle of entering the harbour, barely going under the Verrazano Narrows Bridge and passing the Statue of Liberty / Ellis Island and seeing the New York City skyline is a truly majestic site and one that never gets “old”. We have done this many times, but it is still a magical sight, particularly when one considers the numerous number of people that emigrated to the US and this was their first sight of what was to be their new life. We docked in the Red-hook, Brooklyn Cruise Terminal after turning the ship around 180 degrees. After disembarking and going through the formalities, we sped off in a taxi and home sweet home. Lots of fabulous memories.
