Sunday February 02, 2025 – At Sea – Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to San Francisco, CA USA
We greatly enjoyed the morning Church Service conducted by the Captain with a delightful song by Natalie. This was followed by Nichola Gutgold who gave a very interesting talk about the earliest times of Jaqueline Bouvier through her times as a Vogue Reporter, marriage to Jack Kennedy and their life at the White House. She continued through her time after she was widowed at 31 then married Onassis at 36 and widowed a second time by early 40’s. She then became a publisher and had a third “husband” (actually companion as she never married him).

Chase Untermeyer – Why they Act that Way – An excellent speaker and former ambassador who talked about the way that geography and history influence the behavior of a nation on the world’s stage more than ideology, religion and economics. He uses the examples of Iran, China and Russia to explain his theory. Specifically for example, the fact that Russia was so concerned about being attacked both from Europe as well as China, that they wanted to annex more of the Eastern European countries to protect against attacks from Europe. Likewise China is concerned about being attacked from the various bordering nations.
Showtime – Imagination – The Cunard Singers and Dancers perform a new laser filled show that merges reality with electronic imagery that conflates the two. It was interesting to see the way technology can be used, seamlessly with live on stage actors creating an interesting show, but one that “once is enough”!
